When the Wait Feels Like It’s Breaking You Instead of Building You
If you’re feeling discouraged, unclear, or spiritually dry… this is the reset you’ve been praying for.
Have you ever felt like you were doing everything “right”—praying, planning, preparing—and still… nothing?
No open doors. No green lights. Just silence. Stillness. A pause that feels like it might never end.
I’ve been there. Waiting seasons have a way of making you feel invisible, like God skipped over you or put your life on hold while everyone else is moving forward.
But here's what I’m learning in my own “in-between”:
The waiting isn’t punishment. It’s preparation.
It’s not a detour. It’s discipleship.
It’s not wasted. It’s weighty, with growth, grace, and the opportunity to become spiritually strong beneath the surface.
Let’s talk about what it looks like to wait well. Not just to survive the delay, but to stay rooted, get refined, and live ready for whatever God is preparing.
1. Waiting Is Where God Builds the Deep Things
You don’t plant a seed and dig it up every day to check on it…but we do that with God all the time.
We pray, trust, and then panic when things don’t bloom fast enough. But so much of God’s work is happening beneath the surface.
Waiting is where our faith goes from shallow to steady. It’s where our roots grow deep, so that when the next season comes, we’re not easily shaken.
Practical Step: Each morning, before you reach for your phone, say this simple prayer: “God, even when I can’t see it, I believe You’re growing something good in me.” Let that be your daily grounding.
2. You Don’t Have to Like Waiting to Learn From It
You’re not “less faithful” because waiting is hard. You’re just real.
God isn’t asking you to smile through disappointment…He’s asking you to stay close through it.
Waiting well doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means doing the next faithful thing—reading your Bible, going for a walk, texting that friend back, showing up to church—even when it feels small or ordinary.
Practical Step: Write down one area where you feel stuck. Then ask, “What’s one faithful next step I can take today?” Small steps are still forward motion.
3. This Season Isn’t “On Hold”—It’s On Purpose
It may feel like everything’s at a standstill, but don’t mistake stillness for stagnation. God does some of His deepest work in the quiet.
He’s preparing you. Not just to receive what you’ve been praying for, but to carry it well.
This season isn’t wasted. It’s making you ready.
Practical Step: Create a “Faithfulness List.” At the end of each week, jot down 3 small ways you stayed faithful (even if no one saw it). You’ll be surprised how much God is already doing in you.
If This Resonates… I Made Something Just for You.
I’m hosting a free masterclass called:
🌱 Rooted in the Waiting: How to Find Joy and Build a Consistent Walk With God—No Matter the Season
If you’ve ever said:
“I feel stuck.”
“I’m discouraged and spiritually dry.”
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing right now…”
…this masterclass is for you.
We’ll walk through what it means to stay rooted when life feels stalled to help you reframe your waiting, not as something to get through, but as the very place God is trying to grow you.
You’ll hear from me and a few trusted voices who will speak into:
What to do when you feel spiritually empty—and why that emptiness may be intentional
How to come to God as you are in the waiting—without shame, pressure, or performance
How to gain strength from God in the waiting (not just after it’s over)
Why releasing things like control, fear, perfectionism, and anxiety is part of your preparation
How to set boundaries that protect your heart and make space for healing
How to build consistency and create a firm spiritual foundation—right where you are
How to stop striving and start receiving what God is doing beneath the surface
Because this waiting season isn’t just about what you’re waiting for, it’s about what you’re being invited into.
